Photoshop Elements or CorrectPhoto?

Good Question! It is one I ask myself on a regular basis because I use both.  Like many of you I consider myself an Advanced Amateur photographer and an Amateur Elements user.  So, for me the decision is based on what the photo needs to be a good photo.  If all it needs is to be cropped and color corrected  (two editing task all digital photos need) I select CorrectPhoto because it is so quick and easy, particularly the OneClick color correction. Here is an example of what I mean.

A Spearfish Canyon Snow Storm
My friend Bill forwards a photo taken by his neighbor after a 48 inch snow fall at his cabin in Spearfish Canyon, SD and asks, "How do I get prints of this?" Before I told him where to go (to get prints, that is) I decided to fix the photo.  So, I opened the photo in CorrectPhoto, cropped to 4x6 format and fixed the color by clicking on the grey snow shadow under the roof. Total Elapsed Time: 17 Seconds.  I added the title with ImageTitler and that added a little more time, but a lot less than trying to figure out how to add a title in Elements, at least for me.

BTW, I also used the CorrectPhoto Scaling Function to scale the photos for this email. This is also faster than selecting the Elements/Image Size/Image Size/Pixel Dimensions Tool.

Photoshop Elements Users Turns to CorrectPhoto---WHY?

Because it is easier and faster to do what you need to do!
(Rotate, Crop to size, Color Correct, Scale, Fix Red Eye, Sharpen)

And, the color is better and the photo is sharper!

A True Story
Some time ago a customer
dropped in to visit and ask a few questions about iCorrect EditLab Pro plug-in he uses with Photoshop Elements.  As he was about to leave I asked him what kind of image editing he does in Elements and he replied, "I basically crop, usually to a 4x6 format, and color correct using EditLab Pro and take the files to my local camera store for prints."

An Easier and Faster Way
"Hmmm", I said. "Let me show you an easier way". I launched CorrectPhoto and proceeded to show him fast and easy it is to crop and color correct and turn average picture into a lasting memory.
(See how easy it is to turn and average shot into a great shot)

I pointed out that the cropped image has the same high resolution as the original because of CorrectPhoto's proprietary automatic resizing algorithm. (Try doing that in Elements) I gave him a CorrectPhoto Free Trial Version CD and suggested he try it on some of his photos.  I also suggested he order prints from Sam's Club Online Photo (http://www.samsphotoclub.com/) and pick them up at the local Sam's Club and that he would be surprised how sharp and brilliant will be.

Well, you have probably guessed what happened. In a couple of hours I saw that he had purchased CorrectPhoto.  A few days later he called to tell me how easy and fast CorrectPhoto really was and the prints he got from Sam's Club where outstanding.  Now, he certainly is not going to throw Elements away and we certainly would not suggest that.  In fact, I even need to use it for some editing tasks. But, for the vast majority of the image editing CorrectPhoto is the easiest and fastest photo editing software there is.
